Tomah VA Veteran Retreat Day Volunteer Opportunity
We are honored to welcome a group of Veterans from the Tomah VA Medical Center for a special Veteran Retreat Day focused on relaxation, connection, and outdoor enjoyment.
This group will primarily consist of inpatient Veterans, along with support staff and helpers. The day will include a charcoal grill cookout, time to enjoy the property, opportunities for supervised horse interaction, and possible short rides for interested Veterans.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help throughout the day in a variety of ways, including:
Welcoming and greeting Veterans as they arrive
Assisting with food setup and serving
Walking the property with Veterans who would like companionship while exploring
Helping with cleanup and tear down
Horse-experienced volunteers to assist with:
Tack up and horse handling
Leading horses during interactions or short rides
Supervising safe horse interactions in stalls or barn areas
Veterans are expected to arrive around 10:00 AM, and we typically host 15–20 Veterans, along with caregivers and staff. Setup will begin around 9:00 AM, and cleanup should wrap up around 3:30 PM.
Whether you can help for the entire day or just an hour or two, your support makes a difference and is deeply appreciated.
We are grateful for every volunteer who helps create a safe, welcoming, and meaningful experience for our Veterans.
